| “Handicap Index” |
| The handicap index is calculated as 96% of the average of the included differentials rounded down to the nearest tenth. See schedule below for the number of included differentials. Example: if a golfer has 18 rounds recorded, the best 8 round differentials will be used to calculate the golfer’s handicap index. |
| Rounds | Counted |
| 20+ | 10 |
| 19 | 9 |
| 18 | 8 |
| 17 | 7 |
| 15 or 16 | 6 |
| 13 or 14 | 5 |
| 11 or 12 | 4 |
| 9 or 10 | 3 |
| 7 or 8 | 2 |

|
| “Round Differential” |
| A differential is calculated for each recorded round based on the golfer’s handicap and the adjusted score for the round. The adjusted score is the sum of each hole adjusted for equitable stroke control. See below for more information on equitable stroke control. |
| (ESC adjusted gross score - course rating) * 113/course slope |
| Example: A golfer shoots a 52 with an ESC adjusted score of 50. The rating for the course played is 34.3 and the course slope is 115. This results in a round differential of 15.4. |
| (50 – 34.3)*113/115 = 15.4 |
|
| “Course Handicap” |
| The course handicap is calculated using the golfer’s current handicap index and the slope of the course being played and is calculated as: |
| handicap index * course slope/113 (rounded down) |
| Example: A golfer has a handicap index of 11.2 and the slope of the course being played is 115. This results in a course handicap of 11. |
| 11.2 * 115/113 = 11.39 = 11 |
|
| “Equitable Stroke Control” |
| This defines the maximum allowed score on a hole, based on the golfer’s handicap, when calculating the differential for that round. Example: A golfer has a handicap of 12, so the max hole score allowed when calculating the differential is 8. The golfer shoots a 48 with a 10 during the round. This 10 would be reduced to 8 and the golfer’s score would be considered a 46 when calculating the differential. |
| Hcp | Max Hole Score |
| <5 | Double Bogey |
| 5 thru 9 | 7 |
| 10 thru 14 | 8 |
| 15 thru 19 | 9 |
| 20+ | 10 |
